Sitting down with our team: Q&A with Adena

In our third Q&A, we speak to Adena who has just completed the first year of our Business Analyst Programme.

Adena discusses what makes Oaklin a great place to grow her career, the most rewarding part of her role, and the aspects of our culture that stand out the most to her.

What’s the most rewarding part of being a business analyst at Oaklin?

The versatility of consulting creates a constant learning environment. In just my first year, I’ve had the opportunity to take on a wide range of responsibilities. This breadth of experience is something I believe is unique to consulting, and one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.

"The people here are the heart of the culture which makes Oaklin an inclusive and uplifting place to be".

What’s one thing about Oaklin’s culture that stands out to you?

From my assessment centre, it was the people at Oaklin who stood out. Everyone was welcoming, approachable and genuinely supportive. Nearly a year on, that still remains true. Whether it’s early morning chats in the kitchen or spontaneous conversations during the day, the people here are the heart of the culture which makes Oaklin an inclusive and uplifting place to be.

What makes Oaklin a great place to grow your career?

Oaklin provides graduates with opportunities to step into stretch roles from day one. Through our working groups, propositions and capabilities, we’re encouraged to explore our interests, contribute in meaningful ways, and even take on leadership opportunities that might not be possible in more traditional, hierarchical firms.

"Second, the wellbeing room. It’s a space designed to help you pause, recharge and reset during a busy day."

What do you enjoy the most about the Oaklin office?

I have two favourites! First, the constant supply of snacks provided by our Ops team (especially the Kallo chocolate rice cakes). Second, the wellbeing room. It’s a space designed to help you pause, recharge and reset during a busy day. It's a calming environment that makes all the difference on hectic days.

Can you tell me about a time you felt particularly supported by the team?

At Oaklin, support comes in many forms. As a business analyst, I’ve benefited from a buddy in the cohort above, a career mentor guiding my professional growth, and a project lead who looks out for me on day-to-day on client work. Having multiple avenues of support means there’s always someone to turn to, no matter the challenge.
