ERP behavioural change for a global chemicals manufacturer

Client context

To improve performance, enable data-driven decision making and standardise processes across all sites, the client wanted to optimise their ERP system and introduce it across all business areas. They had already been through substantial change and requested Oaklin’s support in getting their colleagues to embrace, adopt and use the new ways of working with the new technology through traditional change management and behavioural change activities.

Learn more about how Oaklin achieved record levels of engagement throughout.

What Oaklin did

Oaklin introduced key principles to drive successful behavioural change in addition to the change management strategy. The team identified 4 key behavioural success criteria and themes, required to achieve operational excellence. Each theme was linked to a company value, specific behaviours, actions and initiatives to drive those behaviours. Some of the initiatives supporting overall change adoption include:

  • Leadership alignment workshops, communication strategy, and stakeholder engagement through various channels.
  • Promotion and reinforcement of behaviours through a behavioural framework outlining the key behavioural themes to adhere to and multi-day challenges, driven across the organisation to embed processes and challenging behaviours.
  • Blended learning strategy merging numerous training sessions, extensive e-learning resources, on the job support and WalkMe digital adoption platform.
  • Regular surveys to track commitment and knowledge and feedback driven enhancements.

Thanks to the above efforts, 70% of surveyed employees indicated a good understanding of the behaviours needed to support project benefits. With a large majority acting as change advocates within their teams.

Client outcome

Overall, training, coaching and support was highlighted as the second most important reason why users felt comfortable using the new ERP system. Additionally, the behavioural challenges saw record engagement and completion rates driving general enthusiasm about the project and the ERP solution overall. The adoption of the ERP platform supported the delivery of several key benefits in efficiency, operational excellence and enhanced decision-making capabilities.
